5 Things To Do In The Okanagan This Spring
World-class golf, great trails, and family-friendly attractions and programs make the North Okanagan an ideal place to visit or call home this spring.
Morningview on Middleton in Coldstream, BC is ideally located to provide easy access to the exciting activities this region has to offer. Here are our 5 recommendations for things to do in the coming months!
1) Stop Puttering Around and Golf Already!
The Okanagan’s early spring means a prompt return to the golf course is in order! Vernon boasts five golf courses, all within a 30 minute drive from Morningview on Middleton. Take in the rolling hills, mountains, granite outcroppings, wetlands, and lakes characteristic of the Okanagan while working on your swing.
2) Buzz by Planet Bee Honey Farm
The buzz on the street is you’re going to want to check out Planet Bee Honey Farm & Honeymoon Meadery! This family owned and operated farm began in 1997 and has been welcoming visitors ever since! Go to the indoor observatory to see inside a hive, stroll the Bee-Friendly Learning Gardens to watch the pollinators at work, or taste the fruits of their labor by sampling the honey and mead for yourself!
3) Hiking
The melting mountain snow is good news for people who want to take in some breathtaking waterfalls. BX Creek and Falls Trail is a lightly trafficked trail that provides a short hike to the waterfall viewpoint, and a longer forest trail for those wanting to follow the creek downstream. Enjoy the fresh scent of the cedars as you listen to the water roaring by.
4) Explore Programs and Activities
If you are new to the area and looking to make some new connections, enrolling in a program of interest is one of the best ways to do it! The City of Vernon offers a variety of programs and activities to appeal to all walks of life. Perhaps you are a tennis aficionado looking to up your game? Or maybe a SloPitch league that focuses on fun rather than competitiveness is more your speed? The City of Vernon has a program for you! There are even programs for the youngest child in your family.
5) Take a Seat and Enjoy the Show!
Whether you want to treat your ears to Juno-award winning singer-songwriters, laugh until you cry at a comedy show, marvel at acrobatics and illusionists, or relish in the musicals you have been waiting for, Vernon District and Performing Arts Centre has it all! The 20-year old facility holds one of the most comfortable auditoriums in the province, with an updated sound system that makes for a superb guest experience. But don’t just take our word for it – pick a show and see for yourself!
